Erin Condren Horizontal LifePlanner Tour & Giveaway

Erin Condren Horizontal Life Planner Tour 2018-2019 // Pugs & Pearls Blog

Since 2014 I've been sharing my planners here! I've tried so many different brands of planners, from a Lilly Pulitzer agenda to the Emily Ley Simplified planner. Then last year I decided to switch to solely digital planning. Although I still 100% stand by that system, and will still be maintaining most of it, I did end up buying another planner this year.

There was a shift for me this spring, and as I started juggling a few new responsibilities and jobs I just felt like I needed to start writing things down again. The main way Blake and I communicate with each other's schedule is our Google calendar. So, I will most definitely still be updating our events and family schedule. But, things like my blog, Etsy shop, work, volunteering and personal to-dos need to be written down. I think this is really going to help me keep things straight!

Why I Went With Erin Condren
Erin Condren planning people always seemed to be a little bit extreme to me. All of those stickers! It just seemed time consuming, and more of an art project than a planner. Another blogger recommended the EC notebooks so highly, and as a office supply junkie I had to try one! To say I love those notebooks is an understatement. The paper quality alone is wonderful, and who doesn't love a custom cover??

I was ordering a 3rd notebook when I saw the new release of the 2018-2019 planners. Out of curiosity I browsed the new designs, and of course I was smitten! As I mentioned, I was really feeling the need to begin paper planning again and the great designs sealed the deal. I already knew they'd be of great quality, but I was truly blown away!

My Favorite Features
Year In Review
This is a great yearly overview, and with the clear dot stickers I can easily mark important dates! Fun fact: I keep a list of our friend's and family's anniversaries and try to send them a card each year. I decided to use this page to mark off those dates, so I can quickly glance and see how many cards I need to prepare each month!

Rear Pocket
There are so many uses for this double sided pocket in the back! Right now I'm using it to store my sticker sheets. I can see it being so useful for keeping coupons or mail or really anything. My planner kit also came with a clear zip pouch that is flush with the planner. It's also really convenient to store slips of paper there.

Horizontal Layout
Most of the EC planners that I had seen were the vertical design, and those are the ones that are usually heavy on the stickers! The horizontal layout seemed right up my alley. It's got plenty of lined space to write out your daily schedule. What I most appreciate are the squares on the end of the day's box. It's the perfect place to write your to-do list or a special event. I went through and used that box to write out bills that will be due that day and annual events.

The Cover
Customizing my planner cover was so fun! There are dozens of choices, and then you can customize colors after that. I was stuck between a couple, but I ended up with the Swans design. The color options are amazing-and I of course had to choose cornflower blue.

Monthly Notes
On the last page of the month there is a fully lined page for notes. I decided the perfect use for this page would be a space to write down monthly highlights and gratitudes! I've already numbered each month so it will be easy to quickly jot down something I was grateful for each day.

Stickers
Alright, so I like the stickers! I really don't see the need to deck my whole planner out in stickers and washi tape-but a few stickers here and there are so cute! My planner came with 3 sheets of stickers, and I bought a few more sheets from Erin Condren as well. Their stickers are colorful and most of them have a really nice metallic accent. I have the travel sticker set, the budget sticker sheets and the transparent dots set

The real find, however, are the customizable stickers! You choose the color and what they say. I did two of these sheets for the events that happen all the time. One color is for vet appointments, another as a reminder to turn in my time, basically the things that are happening monthly that I don't want to write over and over again. Love these! The price is so good too.

Additionally, I picked up a few sheets from Etsy! I adore these pug stickers, and I also really like these payday flags! I accidentally ordered too many of those pay day stickers, and I want to give them away to one of you! Plus a few other goodies. Make sure you enter in the Rafflecopter widget below!

  1. I’m a big paper planner person. I love seeing everything written out on paler, and find crossing things out so satisfying! I’ve been looking for a new planner for next year, and most don’t have enough writing space. These look perfect however. Thanks for the find! xAllie

    1. It is SO satisfying to cross things off, isn't it?!
I highly recommend the EC planner, but I also really loved the Simplified Planner too!

  2. I absolutely love the ECLP! Unfortunately, my work planning has become almost digital. However, i am planning on a horizontal ECLP to use as a gratitude journal this coming year!

  3. This sounds like a great planner! I try to do most of my things digital but some times there is nothing like writing it down and crossing off your list. I still can't believe that Eric and I don't use a google calendar because we have talked about it multiple times and need to just get ours in order already lol. Sierra Beautifully Candid

    1. Digital is great for a lot of things, but you are right, writing it down really helps with certain tasks. You will love having a family Google calendar! It's really helped us avoid miscommunication and keeps us on the same page.

  4. Your planner is super cute and stylish - loved the colour and the swan design. One reason (amongst many) that I love reading US blogs is that you all prioritise organisation so much. I am no-where near as organised / dedicated as any of my favourite bloggers like you - but compared to my English friends, I am the boss planner! Really no-one I know at work or socially uses a planner except me. And the one I use is a paper version of a leather Arabic design and far too small. I've never even seen anything here in the shops that involves stickers - I know I need a different system though - all the blur of ink starts to look the same. Plus it would be fun - I love stickers, coloured tape, pens etc - I don't think you ever grow out of it! I will try entering the giveaway but totally understand I might be excluded as overseas (sob!) x

    1. Thank you so much J! I love getting organizing inspiration from other bloggers too! Colorful pens is a fun way to mix up your planner, maybe you could try that. And don't worry, I'm not excluding anyone from this giveaway, as long as you follow all the steps you are go-to-go!

  5. I prefer pen and paper over digital. I don't have an ECLP but buying one is on my bucket list. I currently use a Recollections planner, that stays on my desk at home. I'm trying out a TN (Traveler's Notebook) for a on-the-go planner. I enjoy using stickers and washi in my planner(s) but I leave lots of white space so they are still functional for me.

    Great post. Enjoyed reading it.

    1. Thanks Jennifer! I haven't used an washi tape yet, but I think it can look so nice! Keeping lots of white space is important to me too. Thanks for reading!

  6. I am a planner junkie too and I cannot wait to start my new planner in July! I've always wanted to try Erin Condren planners but am not a fan of vertical planning- so the horizontal layout is perfect! I can't wait to hear more once you are using it but it sounds great so far!!

    1. Isn't it exciting!? I can't wait for the new planner year to start! =]
I totally understand, the vertical layout was not for me. But that's all I had ever seen of the EC planners. Thanks for reading Gentry!

  7. It drives my husband NUTS (because he likes electronic calendars) but I only use a paper one :) I've had a Plum Paper Planner for the past two years but I'm already scouting out a 2019 planner. Maybe I'll switch to EC!

    1. Blake doesn't get it either! He also thinks this planner was too pricey, but he was nice about it. I think you have to do what works and makes you most productive!
Head over to the Erin Condren website and play with the covers! It's so fun.

  9. Gorgeous!! I used to be all about actual planners to keep track of what I've been up to but I've just been using my phone for the past few years. I'm so tempted to buy an actual planner again!!!

  10. I used a Plum Paper Planner for a few years and was a sticker junkie! A couple of months ago, I gave it up though and switched to Google Calendar. I feel so guilty (haha) but it's just easier for me to sync my calendar up on all my devices and always have it with me.
